Methodology

As a swim coach and lifelong athlete, I am passionate about inspiring people to use yoga as a tool to help them to cultivate strength and subtlety in their bodies and minds. I love working with athletes to improve their flexibility and power through incorporating yoga into their routine.

Teaching yoga has been the most rewarding thing I’ve ever done, and the more I teach, the more I feel compelled to explore why and how yoga works. Yoga combines breath, movement, and mindfulness to build awareness in the mind and body. I never consciously chose to teach yoga – instead I  felt inspired to share what I had learned through my own practice, leading me to train as a teacher. I am fascinated with exploring different teaching techniques and tailoring my approach to develop a framework to teach more efficiently and effectively. Yoga is considered more of an art than a science, both for practitioners and by most teachers. There are very few studies exploring how to teach yoga more effectively, and few tools have been developed to test different sequences or styles of teaching to prove their efficacy. My goal as a Neuroscience researcher is to use technology to explore how yoga works in order to create an evidence backed, scientifically grounded framework for teaching yoga and for training yoga teachers.

As I teacher, I work to empower my students to find meditation and mindfulness through movement. My classes are dynamic and Rocket inspired. I draw from different schools of yoga including Ashtanga, Rocket, Mandala and Dharma, incorporating elements of restorative and dynamic practices.

Trainings

I completed my 200 hour teacher training in Hatha and Vinyasa with Heather Elton, completed 100 hours of advanced training with Ambra Vallo and am a Rocket Yoga Mentor. I’ve completed over 400 hours of Rocket Yoga training with Leon London and David Kyle and Mandala and Rocket Yoga with The Yoga People.
